Lainey's Story

I'd like to tell you "Lainey's Story". Lainey is a 12 year old little girl. She has wanted a dog since the time she could speak. She has always wrote stories, pictures and anything she could to express how much she wants a dog in her life. Her mom never has wanted a dog. Her dad had dogs when he was a child. Lainey has 3 olders sisters. Lainey has resorted at times to getting on her knees and praying to God and anyone else she could that would hear her need for a puppy. Lainey's parents contacted me back in November. The parents did a ton of research on dog breeds and agreed that the Havanese breed would be best for their family. The parents committed to us and choose Laineys Christmas present. I kept this little gorgeous puppy with us and made arrangements for a Christmas morning delivery. I am telling you all of this because Lexi (my daughter) and I will never have anything like this to replace a Christmas morning memory. I wrote Lainey a little poem of sorts and Lexi and I showed up at the home complete with the puppy is a huge bow in a wrapped box (with removable lid of course) with the biggest bow on the top of the box. We rang the bell and the father (Brian) answered the door. We shook hands and we said Merry Christmas, and I did the same with the mom (Jill) . I had these 4 girls in pjs in the living room all stairing at myself and Lexi like 'who the heck are these people'. You see the parents did not tell a soul, not even their other daughters. Well wished the girls a very Merry Christmas and we explained that we were acting as Elves this fine morning. I asked who Lainey was in the room. I was introduced to this precious little girl over in the corner, complete in her pjs and a new coat that she had obviously just opened prior to our arrival. I told her that we were mainly there to wish her a very Merry Christmas and to deliver a special present from her Mom and Dad. Lexi and I then read her this....
Laineys Dream Come True
Christmas 2008
Your Mom and Dad gave us the pleasure of looking over your list this year
but we didnt find anything on it that would bring enough cheer...
So, we took the list and threw it away and decided on a special delivery
for you on this fine Christmas day
This gift could not be kept here in your home
and of course it could not be outside all alone.
Actually, this gift was not our decision at all
it was your parents who said yes and made the call
Remember after we leave to continue to hug and praise Mom and Dad
for they did alot of thinking and research that allowed this
choice to be had
We couldn't deliver this gift earlier to your house,
as it would of been sensed by even the smallest mouse!
NOW... We couldn't be happier to be delivering to you - and this is enough with these silly clues!
Now Laney please come and open the box, because the most AWESOME
HUMONGOUS OUTRAGEOUS ADORABLE Christmas gift is waiting for you!
Merry Christmas Lainey!!!!
Well Lainey came walking over to us shaking... as you see she broke down to her Mom recently and told her she now understood that her dream of having a puppy would never be had and asked if they could consider another animal such as a bunny. She told her it took alot for her to suggest this but she now really truely understood she would NEVER have a puppy. So, you see Lainey thought *thought* that she was getting a very small animal as consolation to never being able to be a owner of a dog. Lexi prompted her to take the top off the box. This was amazing!!!! Lainey fell to her knees and took the box top off. She literally froze she could not move. The only thing moving was a mountain of tears streaming off her face and rolling under her neck. Then her little hands started to tremble. I found myself in a river of tears and as I looked around the entire family and my Lexi were all in a river of tears. I rubbed Laineys back and sniffled though my own tears "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas". Lexi then Lainey, please open your arms and hold your puppy, he is very real. Her little hands came up trembling and as if they weighed a thousand pounds. Lainey held her puppy for the first time.....
